CHIN KON YIT

Chin Kon Yit is one of Malaysia’s most eminent watercolourists. He is largely self taught, having been forced to abandon art school after one year due to lack of funds.

His natural skill and determination won him a prominent position in a leading advertising agency, and he worked in this field for fifteen years. In his spare time he pursued his own interests in fine art, painting street-life and architectural subjects in particular. In 1991, he became a full-time artist.

Kon Yit has participated in several solo and numerous group exhibitions. He was the illustrator for the widely acclaimed publications, “The Kuala Lumpur Sketchbook” and “The Penang Sketchbook”. He has done and continues to do special commissions for significant public and private collections.
